San Jose del Cabo

On the southern point of the Baja Peninsula, San Jose del Cabo is a tourist town comparable to Cabo San Lucas. San Jose del Cabo, on the other hand, is a more laid-back counterpart of the famed party town. San Jose del Cabo has a population of around 70,000 people. San Jose del Cabo has a thriving tourist economy, attracting over 1 million hotel guests. Fishing is the second most important industry. Beaches, restaurants, and shopping, as well as golf courses and resorts, abound. The Universidad Mundial Campus Los Cabos, the Instituto Tecnologico Los Cabos, CECYT-04, and UNIDEP Universidad del Desarrollo Profesional are all major colleges in San Jose del Cabo. You can find more useful information about San Jose del Cabo underneath the listings section.

San Jose del Cabo

San Jose del Cabo’s history is heavily influenced by European culture and religion. San Jose del Cabo has its distinct culture, from Hernan Cortés’ establishment in the early 16th century to 19th-century colonial-style houses and gorgeous cathedrals. The Gallery District highlights the impact of art on the city’s identity. Spanish culture is prevalent in San Jose del Cabo. Since Cortes’ discovery, when colonial Spain left its stamp on everything from city streets and structures to the name San Jose del Cabo, the effect can be seen everywhere. Plaza Mijares, San Jose del Cabo’s main square, the Gallery District, and the Misión San José del Cabo Anuit (Mission of San Jose del Cabo Church) were founded in 1730. The desert meets the sea in San Jose del Cabo. Before reaching the mountains, the terrain is mostly flat. The climate of San Jose del Cabo is arid. When high temperatures average in the low-90s, June and October are the warmest months. January through March are the coldest months, with average lows in the mid-50s. San Jose del Cabo is ideal for homeowners who wish to live near the ocean in Mexico without the high costs or who want to be close to a large tourist and resort town. Although hotels and resorts draw a regular stream of visitors, the area’s calmer atmosphere is excellent for individuals wanting a slower pace of life.

When the newly-constructed Los Cabos Convention Center hosted the 2012 G20 Summit, San Jose del Cabo was in the limelight. San Jose del Cabo is expanding, from its colorful natural surroundings to its historic center, as more Mexicans and foreigners invest in the area.

Top Beaches in San Jose del Cabo

Palmilla Beach
Playa Palmilla or Palmilla Sand is ideal for those wanting calm seas, a family-friendly environment, and a mile-long length of the beach. A beach with beachfront luxury houses, the world-famous One & Only Hotel, and the Jack Nicklaus Ocean Nine golf course are all nearby. On weekends, arrive early in the morning for a palapa or bring your umbrella for shade.

Costa Azul Beach
Costa Azul is the hotspot for people seeking drinks, burgers, and great waves throughout the summer. The offshore Zippers is an expert-level, right-hand reef break, while Zipper’s Restaurant is the ultimate beachfront hangout. Local and visiting surfers flock to the beginner-friendly Middle and the more demanding La Roca breakers. There’s plenty of sun and sand here, and this is one of Los Cabos’ better-walking beaches.

Hotel Beach
The Presidente InterContinental All Inclusive Los Cabos Resort is located on the south side of the San Jose del Cabo estuary. In contrast, the Las Mananitas condo resort complex is located on the north side.

Playa del Tesoro
The famous San Jose del Cabo estuary begins near the east end of the Playa Hotelera (Hotel Beach) in San Jose del Cabo. The freshwater lagoon is home to approximately 350 types of fauna and luxuriant greenery. The river and lagoon, which are fed by subsurface aquifers, are one of the rare oases on the otherwise arid Southern Baja peninsula.

La Playita
This beach is located in the Estero de San José del Cabo’s eastern section. It is now experiencing a massive surge due to the increased popularity of Puerto Los Cabos.

Activities in San Jose Del Cabo

San Jose del Cabo offers a plethora of sublime but adventurous activities, eye-catching sites, and exhilarating activities. An art walk through the streets – showcasing ancient architecture and colorful buildings in the art area downtown – is held every Thursday from November to June. Local art businesses and trendy coffee cafes fill the old downtown streets of most communities. You might even be able to participate in some classic Mexican events, such as Day of the Dead celebrations, or get a bite to eat at Sabor a Cabo, or Restaurant Week, if you time it correctly.

Outside of the towns, golden beaches attract surfers from around the World. After some surfing, people tend to stroll through the bars for a celebratory drink. Many fishing events take place around the shores of San Jose del Cabo. Surfing events are held every year on the seas surrounding Zippers. San Jose del Cabo is a more laid-back option than Cabo San Lucas.

Art Walk
Between November and June, the San Jose del Cabo Art Walk is a popular weekly event every Thursday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. The Gallery District Association created, marketed, and coordinated this event to attract art enthusiasts and tourists away from the central plaza and into the colorful back alleyways behind the church.

With its popularity rising over time, the local authorities decided to restrict Obregon’s main street to automobile traffic every Thursday evening to accommodate all visitors to our District. Enjoy an evening stroll in the Gallery District, stopping by art galleries, sipping wine, and dining at local eateries. Special events, such as “artists in attendance” or the launch of new shows, are frequently held by galleries. Downtown San José is bustling on Thursday evenings thanks to the Art Walk’s rising popularity. Still, the heart, soul, and refinement of this weekly event lie inside the confines of the Gallery District, inside the galleries located behind the church and main square Plaza Del Pescador.

Plaza del Pescador is a shopping center located in front of San Jose del Cabo’s hotel strip, only steps from the Sea of Cortez and Historic Downtown. It has a superb location and a wide range of restaurants, shopping, and activities.

San Jose Estuary and Bird Sanctuary
Due to the rarity of bodies of water on the Baja California Peninsula, the San José del Cabo Estuary, located near the southern end of Baja California Sur, is a freshwater wetland of significant importance for migratory and shorebirds. The Natural Oasis is a natural haven for birds and veggies that spans 1.4 square kilometers of protected land and is home to an extraordinary biological diversity of birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and insects. You can enjoy the beach, although it is not suitable for swimming due to the ferocity of the waves.

Walk Through Plaza Mijares
One of the popular activities in San Jose del Cabo is visiting Plaza Mijares. Thursdays are cultural tianguis days, with local manufacturers selling palm products, educational toys, organic beeswax paintings, jewelry, wood carving and sculpting, and delectable sweets.

Auniti Catholic Church
Constructed during the colonial period of Mexico’s history, the Mission San Jose del Cabo Auit, or Iglesia Católica San José del Cabo, was the southernmost of the Jesuit missions in Old California – now Baja California Sur.

Cabo Real, which has hosted two PGA Senior Slam tournaments (1996 and 1999), is an excellent and well-balanced test of golf. Uphill holes are typically played towards the prevailing onshore breeze, and downhill holes are usually played into the prevailing onshore breeze.

The Cove Club
The Cove Club Course (previously the Ocean Course) in Cabo Del Sol is a Jack Nicklaus masterpiece that has been named one of the top 10 courses in Mexico and one of the World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses by Golf Digest. Playing the private course is now a privilege restricted only to Cove Club members and their guests.

Palmilla Golf Club
The One&Only Palmilla Golf Club, which overlooks the Sea of Cortez, features a beautiful 27-hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Arroyo/Mountain Course boasts the most dramatic elevation changes and some of the most outstanding views of the three golf courses. The seventh hole on the front nine demonstrates why the course is named “Arroyo.” This 560-yard hole is adjacent to a deep and frightening one. The Mountain Course, which makes up the back nine, features holes of varying lengths and plenty of sand and water.

San Jose del Cabo Real Estate

Along with Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo is undoubtedly the best real estate site in Baja. There is something for everyone in this paradise where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. Its Spanish colonial history exudes a lot of Mexican charm and warmth. Things that happen in the city include the gorgeous historic center, pedestrian zones, and a laid-back culture. Los Cabos has become one of the most significant destinations for people from all over the World. Primarily tourists but not entirely, with many of them looking for a lovely piece of land where they can live quietly, making it one of the most popular places in Baja to look for real estate. There is room for everyone, whether you are searching for a place to retire, a new adventure, or something else. Because San José del Cabo is accessible to everyone, real estate is a fast-growing industry. In the Los Cabos region, San Jose del Cabo has the largest population of year-round international residents. Foreign influence has a tremendous impact on the economy, especially when tourism is the leading business and fishing is the second. The Los Cabos area and the Baja Peninsula, where San Jose del Cabo is located, are more costly than most other parts of Mexico’s mainland but less so than the rest of North America.

The bulk of persons looking for property in San Jose del Cabo are retirees and holiday homes. Mexicans buy vacation houses and search for a second home near the ocean, and snowbirds from the US, Canada, and Europe flock to Mexico to escape the cold. San Jose del Cabo’s real estate market is relatively active, with most new property sales in the more touristic areas of Puerto Los Cabos, Querencia, and Club Campestre. San Jose del Cabo has more colonial characteristics and a laid-back vibe than Cabo San Lucas, which is recognized for being a primary party town and tourist attraction. In specific parts of Mexico, such as within 60 miles of any Mexican border or 30 miles of any Mexican coastline, foreign people cannot officially “own” property. Those looking to purchase real estate in San Jose del Cabo must do so through a trust.
